To all lovers of Gert and her adventures in I Hate Fairyland Vol. 1. This is more of the outstanding plot lines and artwork of Scottie Younge.

In this bind up we open with Gertrude as Queen of Fairyland and not a very good one, not only does she in her own inimitable way hate being in this role but inexplicably manages to continue to destroy and alienate at every turn. The first chapter also respectfully tips their hat at Game of Thrones, which came and just the right time and had just the right level of humour without regurgitating it over and over.

The second story introduces to us a new character Duncan from "Home" dressed in a very adorable dinosaur outfit who seems to be transported via a toilet and his arrival not only triggers Gerts urge to return home and whatever the cost but also an homage to a Scooby Doo/Back to the Future type vehicle.

I don't want to give too much away suffice to say I now have quite a wait for Vol.3 and can't wait to find out when it is due for release on Comixology.

Review: A Portable Shelter

A Portable Shelter by Kirsty Logan My rating: 4 of 5 stars I am not one to always get on with a book based in magical realism however, I had heard such good things about this book I could not resist giving it a chance. This book is based on a gay couple Ruth and Liska who have moved to a remote coastal cottage in Scotland while Ruth carries their first child. Each of them spends time telling the baby stories containing moral and life lessons from what they have learnt. This includes many magical realism tales including selkies, werewolves and child-eating witches. They agree not to tell stories to the baby so each of them are relaying their tales in secret from each other. I really did enjoy the small tales included within the overall story of Ruth and Liska however, was somewhat disappointed when the concluding story was about Death.
